The Blue Collared Kingfisher is a familiar and much-loved sight in the island’s parks and coastal gardens. In Singapore, the Kingfisher has adapted to live well beyond the water’s edges. Its sharp call gives away its presence, before its striking blue plumage catches the eye. In this illustration, Rachel Barkess, captures beautifully the blue undertones of its characteristic plumage as well as its character.
